SAP Basis Best Practices

The Weekly SAP Basis Health Checklist

September 4, 2026 · 6 min read · CoreSAP Talent Insights

Twelve checks every Basis administrator should run each week to catch issues before users notice them.

Reactive Basis teams spend their weeks firefighting. Proactive teams run a short, consistent checklist that surfaces problems early.

Review failed and long-running background jobs, update errors (SM13), short dumps (ST22), lock entries (SM12), and spool growth. Check HANA memory and disk trends, backup completion, and log volume usage. Verify certificate expiration dates and RFC destination health.

Document every check in a shared runbook and trend the results. Over a quarter, those trends become the evidence you need to justify capacity investments and upgrade timing.
